From Interstate 5, take exit #14, Hwy 66. Drive east 1 mile, turn left on Dead Indian Memorial Road, and continue 6.6 miles.
Turn left on Shale City Road (a paved Bureau of Land Management road), just after a large powerline crosses Dead Indian Memorial Road. Here, on the right side of Dead Indian Memorial Road, there is a blue and white sign that reads Willow-Witt Ranch, The CREST. This is Shale City Road, on the left, across the road from this sign
Follow Shale City Road (you are now on public forest land) for 3.2 miles. You will cross two cattle guards and see a well-graveled road on your left where there used to be a “Grizzly Peak Trailhead” sign. Just past the Grizzly Peak turn-off, stay on Shale City Road. 50 yards further, turn right at our driveway, which also has a “Farm Store” sign on the right. Follow the gravel road 3/4 mile to the Ranch. Please note that the speed limit is 10 mph. Watch for the “Family Forest” and “Watershed Friendly Steward” signs at our entry gate. The gate can be opened! If the gate is closed, please unlatch it and close it behind you. Our gate is to keep the cows out, not people.
Just inside the gate, on the right, you will see the parking area and entrance to the Forest Conservation Burial Ground. Past the first big meadow, in the next grove on the left, you’ll see the sign marking the Pet Cemetery; next will be the left turn for the Campground. Just past the campground road, you will see the gravel road to Meadow House on the right. If you keep going straight, you will come to the two large barns and the main house of historic Willow-Witt Ranch.
The CREST at Willow-Witt programs usually convene near the first large “Education Barn,” or in the grove across from the Education Barn.
Please note that Willow-Witt Ranch is a working farm that uses Maremma livestock guardian dogs. No dogs or pets are allowed inside the gate.
