Petals & Pollinators: Creating Eco-art

with Zebith Thalden

Petals & Pollinators: Creating Eco-art

Sunday, July 19th, 10:30am – 3:00pm

Join us for a day of artistry at Willow Wit Ranch, with our special guest Zebith Thalden, the author of The Insect Artist! With art materials in hand, we will immerse ourselves in the spray of blossoms in the meadow to honor the diversity of species that these colorful botanicals depend on. We will learn about the scientific connection of this unique ecosystem, located in the Southern Cascades, with a staff member from the Pollinator Project. We will have plenty of time under the tent’s shade to learn creative techniques for developing bold realistic sketches in dynamic compositions with subjects that are busy buzzing from flower to flower!

This workshop is ideal for adults with a beginning to intermediate skill level. A recommended supply list will be provided. If you would like a copy of The Insect Artist, it can be pre-ordered at Bloomsbury Books or purchased with cash at the event (retail price 27.99).

We will supply sketchbooks, art supplies, and light refreshments.

Feel free to bring additional supplies you’d like to work with, such as:

  • References (images or non-living species in a clear sealed container)
  • Pens, pencils, or paper
  • Portable folding chair or stool (optional) there will be seating available

Also, to set yourself up for success please bring:

  • Water bottle
  • Lunch
  • Clothing layers for always changing Oregon mountain weather

We believe connection to nature and creativity should be within reach for all. If the $70 workshop fee feels out of reach, please send us a message through our contact form, limited financial assistance is available.
